Member of Parliament · South Surrey–White Rock
Ernie Klassen was born and raised in British Columbia, growing up near Abbotsford on a family farm. His roots in agriculture and rural communities shaped his understanding of hard work, community service, and the importance of supporting local families and businesses.
After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Fraser Valley and studying at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Ernie built a successful career as an entrepreneur. He owned and operated both a photography studio and a floral business in the South Surrey–White Rock area, creating jobs and serving the community for many years.
His entrepreneurial experience gave him firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing small businesses — and the importance of economic opportunity, local investment, and community growth.
Long before entering federal politics, Ernie was actively involved in community organizations throughout White Rock and South Surrey.
Ernie has always believed that strong communities are built through collaboration, inclusion, and active participation. His work has focused on bringing people together and supporting organizations that strengthen community life.
In addition to his business career, Ernie has served in leadership roles supporting children and families across the region:
