Immigration & IRCC

Help navigating Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) when your case is stalled or you need support.

Immigration is one of the most common reasons constituents reach out to Ernie's office. IRCC processes millions of applications each year, and delays or complications are unfortunately common. Ernie's office can help by contacting IRCC directly to inquire about the status of your application and, where appropriate, flag humanitarian or urgency considerations.

We can assist with:

  • Permanent residence delays and case status inquiries
  • Citizenship application delays or test scheduling issues
  • Visitor, work, and student visa complications
  • Spousal and family class sponsorship delays
  • Express Entry profile status and processing inquiries
  • Travel document requests for permanent residents
  • Urgent humanitarian situations requiring expedited review
Note: An MP's office cannot override IRCC decisions or guarantee approvals. We can ensure your case receives proper attention and communicate your situation to IRCC. Legal immigration advice should be sought from a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or immigration lawyer.

Passport & Emergency Travel

Assistance when travel documents are delayed or you need urgent help before an important trip.

Passport delays can be stressful — especially when you have a booked trip, a family emergency, or a time-sensitive work obligation. If you're experiencing an urgent passport situation, Ernie's office may be able to contact Service Canada's Passport Program on your behalf to flag the urgency of your case.

We can assist with:

  • Emergency passport requests for urgent international travel
  • Passport application delays beyond published processing times
  • Lost or stolen passport replacement while abroad
  • NEXUS Trusted Traveller Program delays or issues
  • Child passport complications
  • Passport renewal delays for imminent travel
Tip: If you have an urgent travel need (within 2 weeks), contact our office immediately with your flight details and application number. This significantly improves our ability to help.

Urgent Passport Help

For emergency passport situations, please call our Surrey office directly during business hours. Email for non-urgent passport inquiries.

Service Canada & Federal Benefits

Help accessing EI, CPP, OAS, GIS, and other federal benefits you've earned and are entitled to receive.

Service Canada administers many of the benefits that Canadians rely on — Employment Insurance, the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, and more. When delays or errors occur with these programs, it can cause real hardship. Ernie's office can contact Service Canada on your behalf to inquire about delays, request expedited processing in hardship situations, and help clarify complex eligibility questions.

We can assist with:

  • Employment Insurance (EI) delays, denials, or appeals
  • Canada Pension Plan (CPP) application delays or errors
  • Old Age Security (OAS) and Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) issues
  • Canada Student Loans (CSL) issues and repayment assistance
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN) replacement or corrections
  • Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) benefit issues (Canada Child Benefit, disability credits)
  • Phoenix Pay System issues for federal employees
  • Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) issues
  • Direct deposits or payment delays from federal programs
Hardship cases: If a Service Canada delay is causing you serious financial hardship, please let us know. We will flag your file to Service Canada for priority processing.

Ensuring those who served Canada receive the recognition, benefits, and support they have earned.

Canada's veterans deserve nothing less than the full support they earned through their service. If you or a family member is experiencing difficulties accessing Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) benefits or services, Ernie's office can help navigate the system and advocate on your behalf.

We can assist with:

  • Disability benefit applications and appeals
  • Veterans Independence Program (VIP) access
  • Mental health and PTSD support access
  • Transition assistance from military to civilian life
  • Survivors' benefits for families of veterans
  • War Veterans Allowance issues
  • Last Post Fund and funeral cost assistance

We can prepare greetings for:

  • Milestone birthdays — 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100+ years

  • Retirement and career milestones
  • Community organization anniversaries and founding milestones
  • Eagle Scout, sports, and youth achievement recognitions
  • Other special occasions worth celebrating
Lead time: Please contact our office at least 4 weeks before the occasion so we can prepare the message in time. Earlier is always better — especially for major milestones like 90th birthdays and 50th anniversaries.
How to request: Email Ernie's office with the recipient's full name, the occasion, the date, and a brief note about the person or milestone we're celebrating. We'll take it from there.

Beyond Ernie's office, you can also request congratulatory messages from the Prime Minister, the Governor General, and other federal officials for select milestones (typically 65+ for birthdays and 25+ for anniversaries). Our staff are happy to help you navigate those requests too.

Request a Greeting

Send us the recipient's name, the occasion, and the date — at least 4 weeks in advance. We'll prepare a personalized message from Ernie.
